I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU- THE VOICE YOU TRUST
Have you ever heard the one about the guy that was walking a mountain road and went over the side? On the way over, he grabbed hold of a small tree and was hanging on for dear life.
Help, help, He cried. Can anybody hear me? Help.
Suddenly there was a voice above him that said, "son, I've got you; just let go of the branch."
He was shocked when he heard the voice and hollered back, who is this?
The voice came back, "this is God, son; trust me, just let go of the branch."
The guy hollers back. Is there anybody else up there?
It's a silly story, but it makes the point about trusting the voices we hear.
Jesus said my sheep know my voice and a stranger, they will not follow.
Christianity is really a life of relationship with the God of creation. For many, the word father does not relate to a relationship; it relates to authority and sometimes fear.
Our heavenly father intends us to know his voice because we walk with him in close fellowship not just once or even once in a while but continually.
That's why we know his voice.
As a kid, I remember sticking my face in the closet among my dad's suits and taking a deep breath. Just the center of his aftershave on those suits gave me security.
How did I know that the scent I smelled was my father's?
It's because we lived in close contact all my young life. He was always there when I needed him. Both for reward and correction, I could depend that he wasn't very far away.
My passion in life is to encourage you to find that intimacy with the father so that you, too, will know his aftershave and his voice.

TRAPPED NO LONGER- FREE TO BE ME
When I was a boy of about five, dad started a church in a small Northwest town filled with lumberjacks. We rented an old house on a hill overlooking the Valley with a large field behind it and a small barn tucked next to the house.
Grandpa Watkins from California came by and stayed with us for a while. One day he took me into the back by the barn; he said I want to show you how to trap birds.
So we collected an old wooden box, some string, and a short stick. Then we went to the kitchen and found some dried bread to make breadcrumbs. Grandpa then took me out by the barn again, where we set the box upside down, propped up by the stick with the string tied around the stick.
Then we put the bate out; the dried breadcrumbs.
Then Grandpa said, "George, you've got to be patient now, so we wait for the birds to begin to eat the crumbs. When they get under the box, we will pull the string, and they will be trapped."
I still remember sitting with Grandpa, hoping a bird would come by so I could trap it under my box. We eventually caught one and just as quickly let it go.
I think mother may have called dinner, so he went into the house.
The Scriptures tell us in second Timothy 2:26 that it's possible to be in a position to be trapped by the Devil, and it tells us that if we come to our senses, we can escape the traps the Devil may be laid out for us.
Psalms 91: 3 declares that God will save us from the trap of the fowler.
Psalms 124:7 also reminds us that the trap has been broken, and we have escaped.
Now here's the test question.
Who made it possible that we could escape, and how did he do it?
Of course, the glorious answer is that Jesus died for us, rose from the dead, and we rose with him, ascended to the father, and presented his blood to deliver us from the enemy's bondage.
It doesn't get any better than that.

CLEAN BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS
It's no wonder that the society around the first Christians thought they were cannibals eating the flesh and drinking the blood of someone.
Words and language communicate an image in the minds of those who hear them. They were talking "God talk" among themselves when they referred to drinking his blood and eating his flesh. For the same reason that the early society took offense, the one we live in today does the same.
There is no way an unregenerated mind can capture and understand the power and purpose of the blood of Jesus Christ. Because of that, we have crafted our songs to proclaim the power in the blood and why we still need to drink his blood and eat his flesh today.
If you were to drink natural wine, you are taking into yourself the DNA of the grape.
Wine experts can tell you exactly where that group comes from, even to the detail of what Vineyard it came out of by the taste of that wine.
Paul declares in Second Corinthians that we should meet often and partake of the blood and the body of Jesus Christ through our communion service together. When we do that, we take in God's DNA, and everything that God is is contained in the blood before us.
As we take that cup of communion into our bodies, we are receiving the life of Christ. John 6:53 tells us, "except you eat his flesh and drink his blood, you have no life in you."
The simple truth I am sharing with you today is just seeds planted in your spirit so that you might ask the Holy Spirit for greater revelation on the power and the purpose of the blood of Jesus in your everyday life.
If you're a new believer, it would be good for you to get an older hymn book and find all the songs about the blood of Jesus.
"There is power in the blood" was always one of my favorites.
"There is power power wonderworking power in the precious blood of the lamb."
Another one that I love so well and sang it every communion that we took is
"Oh, the blood of Jesus that washes white as snow."

WHAT YOU ENJOY YOU WILL ATTRACT
When you enjoy God you glorify God. All of the Mystic realms of heaven start with joy. Psalms 37:4 delight yourself in the lord and he will give you the desires of your heart and your petitions.
The way of drawing desires to you is through delight. Because what you enjoy you will attract.
God wants you to enjoy him.
The Victorian age of our history was a dark and gloomy period of time. Today we would call that straightlaced. From the clothes they wore to the attitudes they had toward life seem to be anything but full of joy and delight.
The Victorian age reflected the religious attitude that was generated by the preachers from the pulpit. They told them that God was mad half the time and was out to get them if they made a mistake or didn't keep the rules.
A bed rock sign of a religious system always produces an angry god that is looking for any excuse to break your leg.
Isn't it interesting that's a very name of God is love. He doesn't just love the world he is love itself. Yet the religious one sees a flexible god one who loves sometimes and hates sometimes.
Matthew 25:21 tells us there's a place called “the joy of the Lord” that we have been invited into. Have you ever wondered what that would be like to live in the “joy of the Lord” and have it affect your life in all of its facets?
We consider our self to be people of faith don't we? For the scriptures tell us that without faith it is impossible to please god. We have faith for provision and protection and direction.
Yeah I see another realm that may be something we've overlooked for strength and protection. It's something called” the joy of the Lord.”
Nehemiah 8:10 “the joy of the Lord is your strength and your strong hold.”
That place called “the joy of the Lord” is something we need to investigate.

THE TROUBLE BUBBLE
"If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all." We get a good laugh from the comedian who says that we go on our way, not giving much thought to the results of that confession.
Rodney Dangerfield was a famous comedian in the past years and made a good living by telling people he had no respect. Then he would entertain the vast audience by relating all of the bad luck that had come his way and the ones who rejected him.
A deep dive behind the scenes of people who continually broadcast this confession will usually reveal a lifestyle of problems and trouble.
Oddly enough, without understanding God's word or having the Holy Spirit's help, most of these never put two and two together.
They live in a trouble bubble.
The book of proverbs 20:7 tells us that as a person thinks in their heart, their actions will be. If we understand that verse, it motivates us to focus on the source of trouble or blessing. The word of God tells us it comes from the heart.
In the book of John 7:30, the center of us, our heart, is referred to as the belly.
"Jesus said he that believes on me as the scriptures have said out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Here is the key to breaking the curse and popping the trouble bubble.
As you feed yourself upon the living word of God, it goes into your heart, and out of the heart, the mouth speaks and shapes your life and journey.
This is gods guaranteed way of breaking the trouble bubble in your life. Any other attempt at it will only bring more confusion and deceptive thinking.
The secret to success in life before and after salvation is believing in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we shall be Zozo. (saved, healed and delivered)
Then out of your spirit, man will flow the living water of heaven to heal the world around you.

CHILL OUT AND REMEMBER
In the early days of a ministry in Mount Vernon, before we built the Christian Center, we had our Church office in a rented house. One day, heading to my office, I passed the bedroom where my associate had his office, and I saw him with his feet up on his desk, leaning back with his eyes closed.
I thought, hey man, you could be doing something; what's up?
So, of course, I ask him, and his reply has stayed with me all these years.
Pastor, I'm just thinking.
As it turned out, that was one of his strong suits; he had a way of thinking about things that were an amazing tool as we formed our first years of ministry.
I never again ask him that question.
Thinking is a form of remembering when we chill out and take time to remember the promises of God that he is the source of all wisdom; that's when new revelation comes to us.
When king David meditated upon his bed, it was on the Lord and his greatness and faithfulness to him. That remembering always sets us up for Victory, and our faith is renewed because of his promises.
David said in Psalms 20:7, "some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God."
Why is it important to remember that?
Because it sets the perimeter of what can and cannot happen, when we remember the name of the Lord, we also remember the power and authority we have in that name. Because of that, we stand bold and strong against the lies and temptations of the evil one.
Because we remember who Jesus is and what he did for us, we are not tempted to doubt our ability and authority that we have because of the cross in the resurrection.
To not remember is deadly because it leaves us open to deception and the enemy's tricks.
When our mind is fixed on God and his promises, there is no room for doubt in our thinking and our believing.

CAUGHT UP IN HEAVENLY RAPTURES
Revelation is what you know; mysteries are where you grow. This statement sounds very spiritual, but actually, it's the way of life. Everything that you knew and experienced at one time was a mystery.
You stood in front of the schoolyard gate holding your mother's hand; your head was filled with the mystery of kindergarten. However, with your mother's prompting, you step through the gate, and the mysteries become revelations days later.
Through every stage of life, you've experienced that same process of mysteries turned into revelations that you lived and enjoyed. As a teenager, as a young father, as a pastor, every door I stepped through; behind was filled with mysteries.
Perhaps the greatest mystery in the Christian world is that of prayer. Jesus took a whack at it with his disciples in Luke 11:1 when they asked Lord to teach us to pray.
These disciples had watched him perform spiritual miracles, receive supernatural answers, and wondered how it worked. They knew the way they were praying wasn't getting the same results, so they asked him for his secret.
So he gave them what we call the lords' prayer. It was supposed to be called the disciples' prayer.
Much of the church has missed the secrets and the depth of that prayer that Jesus gave us and has turned it into a method or a system of prayer.
If you explore those scriptures again and listen to what Jesus is speaking about prayer, the Holy Spirit will open the secrets of going into the chamber and having face-to-face time with the father.
Note the opening statement:
Our father who art in heaven hallowed is thy name.
Take a clue, my friends; that's where prayer starts in the presence of the father because that is the only place you'll get the answer from.

RE-PURPOSING THE LOG IN YOUR EYE THAT YOU MAY SEE
It's summertime in our part of the world, and the little lemonade stands are popping up in my neighborhood. Most vendors or small children want to make a few coins to put in their piggy bank or spend on Candy.
This is happening this summer because somewhere in our distant past, someone came up with the slogan "turn your lemons into lemonade."
Some distant relative of yours perhaps had a tree in their backyard full of yellow fruit they couldn't eat because it was so sour.
They were ready to cut it down when someone had a bright idea.
Why don't we squeeze that fruit into a cup and add sugar to it? And bammo, lemonade was invented.
The moment that we forget God made us on purpose just like we are, is when the gift He gave becomes a hindrance instead of a blessing.
Take, for instance, the fast-talking brilliant Aleck nephew that irritates everyone at the Christmas party. What are we going to do with him, everyone says? No one wants him around because his mouth never stops.
Before everyone cuts him off their Christmas list, grandma has a God idea.
She sends a note to the family and reminds them of God's gifting and that he made your nephew on purpose just the way he is. She says I just sent your nephew a word from the Lord and told him God gave him his talent to use his quick wit and abundance of words to be a lawyer or a preacher.
If the gift that we have is not functioning in its proper place, it will become a log in our eye that blinds us to help our neighbor remove the slight imperfection in his eye.
Release the Holy Spirit to help you re-purpose and reposition the gift in you so that you may see clearly and fulfill the purposes of God in your life.

HEY MOM, I CAN SEE TOMORROW FROM HERE.
Simply stated, without a target, you'll never hit a bull's eye. This brings me to the subject of spiritual sight into the days ahead of you.
Those who are leaders in the body of Christ have spent a significant amount of their focus on establishing a vision for the people. The scriptures tell us that people will be confused and lose their purpose without a vision.
It takes us right back to Moses and the children of Israel when they came to the Red Sea. Because they could not see past their present problem, they began to murmur and complain and wanted to go back to Egypt; back to bondage.
Paul was dealing with the same issue in Galatians when he challenged the saints who wanted to go back to circumcision and fulfill the law again. Somehow they lost their way because of the lack of understanding of why Christ came.
When people lose sight of their tomorrow's and the purpose God has put them on this earth for, they become confused and discouraged and live their way.
Jesus could endure the cross and despise the shame because he saw the final result; you and me as sons and daughters of God.
If, for some reason, you cannot see your tomorrow as positive and full of God's purpose, let me give you some suggestions on how to recover your eyesight.
Let Jesus spit in your eyes.
After all, he did that when he was healing the blind man, which worked pretty well. But how can you do that today and have him heal your eyesight?
If you begin face-to-face conversations with Jesus in prayer and meditation, you will find that his face will be so close to yours that the life in his voice will wash your eyes and give you sight.
The Scriptures refer to it as the "washing of the water by the word of God."
Tomorrow will come for us, and we can be prepared for it by allowing the Lord to open our eyes so that we may see the glory of God in every day that he is giving to us.

THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD IS YOU
Here's a question to ponder while introducing you to our subject for today. Where is the line of demarcation between truth and heresy? Or, let me put it another way. How far can we go into a revelation of scripture until we get too extreme to believe?
Well, obviously, I've asked questions that really have no answer. And I suppose I ask them just to point out that there is no end when it comes to gospel revelation?
So I return to my opening comment; the light of the world is you.
If you were raised in the Sunday School I was in, you would say the light of the world is Jesus, and then we would sing our song and go to class.
Yes, I know I may be splitting hairs, but I want to draw your attention to who you are in Christ and that your roots are in the father.
Jesus said as long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. ( John 9:5)
However, in Matthew 15:4, Jesus said you are the light of the world.
Somewhere in these two scriptural verses is a revelation that needs to be discovered in that you and I indeed are the light of the world.
Of course, it should go without saying that we are nothing and can do nothing without him. Actually, that's not even the subject because we are not without him. After all, he said he would never leave us or forsake us. As a matter of fact, god the father, son, and holy spirit chose to dwell in us.
Now with that settled.
Grab hold of this truth.
You are the light of this world, so let it shine.
