HAVE YOU RECEIVED SINCE YOU BELIEVED?
In the 19th chapter of acts apostle, Paul asks Apoiios if he had received the Holy Spirit baptism since he believed in Jesus Christ as the Messiah.
Apollos was a fervent believer in Jesus Christ and convinced many Jewish people that Jesus was their Messiah.
Yes, something was missing.
With this question, Paul was bringing to the attention of this new convert that he had not yet acquired all of the tools that he needed to complete his development and purpose.
To be baptized in the Holy Spirit is the beginning of a lifetime of being submitted to the will of God in what you say and do.
The experience of speaking in tongues at the outset signifies that your language is submitted to the Holy Spirit's influence over your life. James tells us that the tongue is a small member yet controls the whole body.
So when we as baptized people speak in other tongues, we submit that small controlling agent to the language of our spirit, which is that heavenly language.
If you have not received the baptism in the Holy Spirit with the experience of releasing your heavenly language, ask the father, and he will give it to you.
Why do you need it?
Stated it completes you in ways that are unimaginable at this time. You will enter into a relationship with the father that no one can describe until you experience it.
Yes, it's my faith, but more than that, it's by obedience.
It's called receiving.

WHAT DID JESUS MEAN BY "MANY MANSIONS?
Some of our church theology is somewhat like a gossip circle; the news is passed on from generation to generation, and each time, it changes. By the time you and I come along, a fair amount of church theology needs to be redefined.
Take, for instance, John 14:2. Jesus said, in my father's house are many mansions, (King James version) I'm going to prepare a place for you that where I am there, ye may also be.
OK, that sounds pretty biblical, seeing that we have heard that repeatedly.
But is that really what it means? By the time I came along, every Christian would have a three-story castle just over in the Gloryland.
Whatever that Gloryland thing is, I never found out. I suppose it is a slang word for heaven.
In reality, Jesus was not talking about you hunkering down in some stately mansion on an eternal retirement plan.
Let me say that verse again in layman's language. "in the place that my father abides, there are many different realms for you to work and to fulfill your destiny in, and I am going there now to finalize the covenant so that as I am in that realm, you will also be."
For most Christians, the vision of heaven is like an eternal country club where we play games all day and sit around and tell stories. In reality, this experience we're having on earth is just preparation for our eternal purpose that God has, which is to rule and dominate the cosmos.
Listen again to John 3:16
God so loved the cosmos (World) that he gave his only begotten son.
Again we hear that same word in mark 16:15
Go into all the cosmos (World) and preach the gospel.
In this modern age of technology, we are just now getting a small glimpse of how enormous God's cosmos is. I believe that's what Jesus was talking about when he said there are many realms for you to go to.
We've come through the age of the church where they sang songs like, "Lord give me just a little cabin in the corner of Gloryland."
How pathetic is that when God wants us to rule, dominate, conquer and preach the gospel to his entire creation?
Like that famous statement out of the Wizard of Oz," you ain't in Kansas anymore."

GOD SPREADS MERCY LIKE A FOUR-YEAR-OLD SPREADS PEANUT BUTTER
He gets it all over everything.
We sing songs in the church about the mercy of God being so wonderful.
And thank God that is so true. The mercy of God has dealt with our sin and buried it in the sea of God's forgetfulness, never to be remembered against us anymore.
If that is true, and it is, why then do we remember our sins so often? Where does that come from? If we believe that the word of God is accurate, then that must come from somewhere in the deep recesses of our souls.
So then we have men and women who have been totally set free and forgiven by the mercy of God. Yet most of their life, they suffer from the guilt of the past, and their progress is hindered.
Let's check our understanding of the meaning of mercy and the meaning of grace.
The mercy of God is that which deals with our sins of the past and has covered us with his forgiveness because of the blood of Christ. It is so powerful on God's side that he has chosen not to remember our sins against us anymore.
Consider the power of mercy that can eradicate the very existence of our sinful past.
Now remember we are to have the mind of Christ, and in the mind of Christ, we have no past; we are new creatures with a new name and have been christened as righteous.
On the other hand, grace is the powerhouse of God's gift that enables us to go forward into our purpose with Victory and power. God's grace gives us faith in the time of weariness to go forward and hit the target for God.
The indwelling power of grace gives us the ability to stand in the midst of temptation and declare we are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ.
This is why we can confess what God confesses about us "old things have passed away behold all things have become new."
Remember, we didn't come to God by our faith; we came to him by his faith.
That's why the scriptures declare that "in him, we live and move and have our being."
So when your soul wants to remind you of your past sins, release the dynamo of grace to destroy its effect and bury it for the last time.

WANT TO GO HIGHER, CHANGE FLIGHT RULES
It was 1974, and Southern California was ablaze with the fresh wind of the charismatic movement blowing through its churches. By an act of the Holy Ghost, I was on pastoral staff with eight other young zealots, anxious to be involved in what God was doing.
Arlis and I were experiencing things we had never seen before in church life. Every day seems to be new and full of adventures. It was a major pivotal point in our progress following the father into the supernatural.
Just after we arrived, we heard that our senior pastor was taking flying lessons and was going to buy a church airplane. About that time, we were invited into Baja California, that strip of Mexico south of the border.
Our team piled into about half a dozen small airplanes to get there, and off we went ministering in the great Catholic cathedral in Hermosillo.
Well, that trip sealed it for us young guys; we were determined to become pilots so we could fly our own planes. So off to flight school we went.
Two or three nights a week, we poured over the books and listened to the lectures until that day of graduation. Then it was time to climb into the airplane with an instructor and practice our skills.
I learned a lot in those days about flying an airplane, but the most important thing I learned was that everything has a rule. If you break the rule, you get in trouble quickly.
I learned right away that I was flying VFR; to my disappointment, it would be some time with more practice and training before I could fly IFR.
VFR means visual flight rules.
IFR means instrument flight rules.
I was bound to visible flight rules, which meant I had to be able to see the ground at all times. That meant I could never fly above the clouds and was limited in where I could go.
By now, you probably see the point that I'm coming to. If you're ever going to fly higher with God, you have to graduate from what you see to what you believe.
When flying by instrument flight rules, you must trust your instruments to be accurate and that they will take you through the dark of night to your destinations.
So it is with our walk with the father; trust in the lord with all your heart, lean not unto your own understanding in all of your ways, acknowledge him, and he will direct your path.
Now that's flying by heaven's instrument flight rules.

THE MYSTERY OF QUIETNESS
Let a picture deformed in your mind as I quote the Psalms to you.
The word is my shepherd; I shall not want he maketh me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; he restores my soul. Ps 23
Be still and know that I am God. Ps 46:10
Now take that picture formed in your mind and step into it for a few minutes and watch the pressure of life around you diminish.
Before you leave that place in your mind and your spirit, lay down in that green pasture, take a deep breath, and let all tension, nervousness, and fears leave.
This is not the power of suggestion or modern psychology; this is as old as God himself because he made it possible.
God built us to have the best creative moments in our quietest places. That's why dreams can come to us while we are asleep because we are quiet at last.
When someone says to you, "go to bed and sleep on it," they tell you that your most significant creative moments are coming to you very quickly.
One of America's most incredible adventures, Thomas Edison, had a strange system of creative thinking. He took naps regularly in his office on his couch. He would hold a steel ball in his hand with a tin plate on the floor. As he slipped into sleep, his hand would relax, the steel ball would hit the tin plate, and he would awake.
At that moment, his greatest inventions or enormous problems were solved.
The experts tell us that it is in our deepest sleep that Delta level is where our creative brain kicks in.
No wonder the Scriptures tell us to be still and know.
There are mysteries waiting to be revealed for you if you quiet yourself before the Lord and enjoy the green pastures and the still waters.
Remember, prayer is not only words; it's also quietness.

WHAT GAINS OUR ATTENTION WILL CHANGE OUR LIVES
It was just a simple black-and-white picture on the mantle over the fireplace. My purpose in being there was to have Sunday lunch after our church service, along with some good fellowship.
Life was good, and after almost ten years of being a traveling evangelist, I was excited about the future of gospel work. I was on a spring tour through the churches of the Northwest; along with me was my traveling companion, who played the guitar, and we sang together.
I was going to get married someday. I knew that but not today, and I was too busy keeping up with what God had me involved in and just the joy of living and building relationships.
Then the picture happened.
While waiting for dinner that Sunday afternoon, I wandered into the front room, looking around. This black and white picture of a teenage girl was sitting on the mantle over the fireplace.
That picture gained my attention.
Whoa, who is this? I said. Clutching the picture to my chest, I danced into the kitchen, declaring I was going to marry this girl.
After getting the laughs I was looking for, we had dinner, and I returned to my room to prepare for the night service. But that picture wouldn't leave my mind.
I said to the Lord, if this is not the one for me, I never want to meet her.
Two days later, I met her. 5 1/2 months later, I married her.
Three children and seven grandchildren, and 54 years I'm still married to her.
Need I say it again?
What gains are attention will change our lives.
It's no wonder the Scriptures tell us to seek the kingdom of God first. Make it your priority when you make a Life decision. Let everything you look at be filtered through your understanding of God's purpose for you. Don't allow anything to gain your attention but that which pleases the father.
Keep your eyes on him, and you will hit your target.

A SPLASH OF COLD WATER IN YOUR FACE
Let me ask you a question. What do you see when you think of someone you know or love? Do you visualize an elbow, a foot, or perhaps the back of their head? No, of course not.
You see their face, don't you? We know people by their faces because that is where the expression of their spirit is released. We know them by their face because the substance of their DNA and their family genes come through their face.
You observe their face to see their response to your communication when you're talking to someone. A smile or a frown will tell you which way the conversation is going.
A relationship with any hope of going anywhere always starts with a face-to-face encounter. The signs of love between a man and a woman first appear on the face, and the soft whispers of love and the first kiss come from the face.
I believe this is why we're invited to have a face-to-face relationship with our father, God. Many Christians know their God from a distance and hear about him through other people's reports. But they've never had a face-to-face encounter with the person they claim to love.
It's somewhat like a love affair over the Internet or a male order bride where all you saw was a picture. True love and relationship are always face-to-face.
So it's time for you all to have a cold splash of water on your face.
The nerves that run through the surface of your face will affect every part of your body, including your heart. Suddenly you're Wide awake, your brain starts functioning again, and you're ready for the day.
So it is in the spirit when God splashes cold water in our face, and we wake up to the reality that we need his face in ours.
How great is that?

SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE OF VICTORY
The story of Legion in the new testament is a classic example of deliverance when Jesus shows up at the shore of someone's troubled life. There are so many beautiful keys in this story of redemption that we can glean for our ministries and lives.
If I were to rate those essential keys, I would have to choose the first words that Jesus said about their trip. Remember that before Jesus went on one of his adventures, he had already listened to the Father's instructions for the day.
On this particular day, they were going to meet a storm so severe that the disciples feared for their lives. So Jesus made a statement that became the linchpin of the day.
He said to his disciples," Let us go over to the other side."
Based on that confession, victory was snatched out of the jaws of defeat so that when the storm came, it was used as an example to the disciples that faith would dominate the day.
What Jesus said to his disciples that day was this; "get in the boat, boys. I'll see you on the other side of victory.
I challenge you today to do the two things Jesus did every day before he fulfilled the Father's will.
First of all, he spent time with the Father so that he would understand the direction that the Father wanted him to go for the day.
Secondly, he took that word from the Father and spoke it into the atmosphere he would be in that day. His confession made a pathway for him to walk on.
When we say the same things the Father is saying about our journey, we have a path to walk in that will take us to our target.
Confessing your soul's desires instead of finding the Father's desires will confuse and frustrate you and eventually quit.
Listen to the heart of the Father, then boldly confess his desires for you.

DECONSTRUCTING THE GOD YOU KNOW FOR THE GOD YOU WILL MEET
The dead sea in the middle east is famous for one thing; it's dead. It is so highly salty that no living creature can exist in its waters. The reason it's dead is also very simple. The dead sea never gives anything away that it receives. In other words, there are no rivers flowing out to supply water for different parts of the region.
Americans are known for many things; one is collecting special momentos such as antiques from the past and broken and disrepair items they may use someday.
That particular habit of collecting has produced a category of people called hoarders. Hoarders are those who collect anything for no reason; they like to collect stuff. The tragedy of this particular group of people is that they finally collect so much that they have no room to live in their own house. Many of them live in tiny corners while the rest of the house is filled with junk.
However, if you ask them about it, they will all tell you these are my treasures.
And so it goes with the community of people called Christians; we are also collectors of stuff. The things we collect our ideas, church theology, grandmothers customs, and "this is the way we've always done it."
So just like the dead sea and the hoarder that lives down the street, the Christian who collects spiritual stuff ends up living in a small corner of their spiritual house because there's no room for anything else.
A healthy Christian has a stream flowing out of them, making room for new things to come in. That river or stream flowing out contains many things, such as giving others their time, finances, and love.
However, there are other things that need to flow out that are just as important.
Those things are discarded ideas, out-of-date theology, and grandmother's beliefs about God that came from erroneous teaching.
It's impossible to collect spiritual information from all the sources around us without collecting some dead works, which the Bible calls "hay wood and stubble."
If you're ever going to have room to receive new revelation, some of what you have learned in the past must be deconstructed or torn down so that God can rebuild a fresh understanding of who he is to you and the world around you.
The children of Israel had to collect fresh Mana every day, and if they tried to hoard it for the next day, it became full of worms. I wonder how much of our old dusty theology is full of worms today.
Take time to unload some of the debris, go into the father's secret chamber, and let him refresh you and refill you with his divine knowledge and understanding.
I guarantee you will meet a loving father beyond your wildest dreams.

IF YOU LAUNCH, THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL STEER THE SHIP
Inertia is a strange word. According to my high school science, teacher inertia simply means something at rest. In other words, we are not moving or going anywhere. How often do we feel that way on this journey called life? When we are 10, we want to be 16. And it seems like we will never get there; it's like being stuck in a time warp.
When we're single, we wonder if we'll ever be married. And every time we go to someone else's wedding, it just magnifies the anxiety we're walking in.
Or maybe you feel trapped in a job that has no forward motion. Oh God, you pray, will you ever get me out of this mess I'm in?
The scriptures give us several examples of how to break the power of inertia in our lives. Jesus was especially clear when he ministered to several individuals and commanded them to do something about their condition.
Christ commanded the man with the withered hand to stand up. There was nothing wrong with his legs, but he still sat there focused on his problem. When he did what he could do, then he could do what he couldn't do.
How about the prominent general that came to the prophet in the Old Testament and wanted to be healed from leprosy? The prophet gave him something to do to break him out of the place he was in so we could move forward into healing.
Go wash in the Jordan river, he said.
After much complaining, he finally did that, and when he did, he moved out of leprosy into healing.
I love the story of the prodigal son sitting in the pigpen doing nothing but lusting after the food the pigs were eating. Now that's super inertia.
Taking a permanent rest in a pig pen is not something very smart.
Something seemed to click down deep inside, and he began to speak words of freedom that caused him to be moved out of his pigpen.
"I will rise, and I will go, and I will say to my father."
Those simple words changed his life and launched him on a journey toward Victory.
Dear friends, there's something you can do to break the inertia, that place you seem to be stuck in. And when you do, God will take over the steering wheel and guide you to Victory.
