LIFE- THE SHORT VERSION OF A LONG JOURNEY
Have you ever heard anyone say, "the earth is eternity's dressing room?"
The first time I heard that I was preaching in Washington, DC, for an old family friend. It was the first years of my evangelistic ministry, and I had ventured out to the East Coast. Everything was new and exciting, and all I could see were good things ahead of me as I traveled this road of life.
When I heard that statement, I thought it was catchy and cool, so I made a note of it. Over the years, as I would preach, I would use that statement again if the occasion needed it.
"The life your living is eternities dressing."
I had no idea how true and powerful that statement was in those years.
To experience life is to experience God. Everyone who breathes air, whether they've never been close to a church or introduced to a Christian, experiences God every day. Why is that?
Because our heavenly father is no respecter of persons, all those with the spark of life in them who have come from the father's bosom are dear to his heart. That's the very essence of John 3:16.
"for god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son."
The apostle Paul tells us that nature speaks of God. The scriptures tell us that every man and woman has a witness in their lifetime, and I believe Jesus appears to every person sometime in their life with the opportunity to believe on his name.
When you investigate the parallel between earth and heaven, you'll realize that they are the same in many ways.
The pattern God gave for the tabernacle in the wilderness was a copy of the heavenly tabernacle. It was a preparation for men and women to be able to step into the heavenly's by touching the earthly.
When Jesus came, he came to exhibit the father, and he was the prototype of God on earth.
Then because of the cross and the resurrection, we have been made like him so that when we see him, he will be like us.
Life is indeed the Short Version of the long journey, eternity.

INFUSED KNOWLEDGE
The 23rd psalm is one of the great pillars that reveals our relationship and our journey into God's house and heavenly places.
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."
Let the Holy Spirit capture you with the revelation and power of that extraordinary statement. Believe that he is indeed your Shepherd. The good Shepherd who never loses a sheep. And if they stray, he finds them and brings them home.
Please note how secure you are in that great truth that he will never leave or forsake you. He was with you always.
Because of that, I have no wants. Everything that I need, both physically and spiritually, has been supplied to me by my good Shepherd.
The revelation of this great truth does not come by studying the scriptures with the natural mind. You cannot comprehend it by attending multiple teaching sessions and listening to great Bible teachers.
This is infusing knowledge.
It comes from the Holy Ghost. This level of understanding and revelation of the kingdom of God is downloaded into your spirit as you fellowship the father. Meditation and prayer are common understandings for us to fellowship with the father. But don't allow that to end your journey into the heavenly realms. If you open your spirit to this infuse knowledge, the scripture says in John 14:23 that he will teach you all things and bring all things to remembrance.
In John 2:27, we learned that this anointing would teach us everything.
It's time for a new heavenly download of the loving father and his purpose for us in this life and the future.

DELIGHT- THE HAPPY GOSPEL
The Bible as we know it today was not written to the unbeliever but to those in the family of God, first as Israelites and then as new creatures in Christ.
The most obvious reason is that it takes the Holy Spirit to give revelation to the word of God; those who have not opened their heart to Christ have a problem receiving that revelation.
The instructions in the word of God are to teach and train us so that we may exhibit God and his heavenly message to the world. Unfortunately, we have a long tradition in the Church presenting the gospel in judgment, describing a god ready to crush anyone who resists.
We scratch our heads and wonder why the world doesn't come into the Church. When they come in, we're talking about "the last days" with death and destruction and "blood up to the bridal of the horses." When we preach to unbelievers, we say 'turn or burn." We describe hell to them instead of showing a loving father who sacrificed his all so that they might be brought back to his love.
No wonder this young generation doesn't want to come into a church that talks about death and dying. They are looking for an experience of life and the joy of fellowship with people that actually like them.
The secret that the Church has reserved for a special few is that God is actually a happy God, and it's his desire that we enjoy the Christian life.
A little exaggerated, you say. Maybe so, but you get the point that we can't scare this generation into the arms of God by talking about the end of the world, etc.
Love is nurtured by delight.
Psalms 37:4 tells me that I am to delight myself in the Lord, and if I do, he will give me the desires of my heart.
So it is in proverbs 15:8 that tells me that our prayers bring God delight.
What does delight mean?
The noun= a high degree of gratification or pleasure-Joy
The verb= to take great pleasure
I love what proverbs 11:20 tells me that we are his delight and joy.
Just think about what we're missing if we don't enter that place of delight, spending time in the arms and the presence of our father, God.

IS THE WILL OF GOD A LOCATION?
The old song of the church says, 'I'll go where you want me to go, dear Lord. I'll be what you want me to be." Among the desires that rise out of the new convert is a desire to please the Lord and to do what he wants them to do. That is a result of a submitted spirit and a yielded heart; all I want to do is please the father.
Then the challenge begins. What is the will of God for me, and how can I fulfill that will or purpose? Unfortunately, a fair amount of our mentors, those who teach us the way, are not entirely free from the worldview of the church and the kingdom of God. So, Alas, big is better, and the more power you have, the more you can get done for God. A big church, an extensive TV ministry, a ton of books, etc.
The world view that the church often looks through tells us that the will of God for you is where you go and what you do. And if you go to the right place and do the right things, you will please God and be in his will, his purpose for your life.
So when we are introduced at the preachers' convention, someone says this is brother Fred he's got 300 in his congregation.
And this is brother Bob; he's got 6000 in his congregation.
Guess who gets to preach at the convention and sit on the front row, brother Bob of course, because he has proven the worldview that the church has that big is better.
So if the will of God is not a location or a big and powerful ministry, what is it?
Jesus had a simple way of bringing truth into clarity.
We are no longer striving to live by the 10 Commandments, which most people fail in. Jesus said forget that that's dead and gone.
Here are the two Commandments that I give you.
Number one," love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul and strength, and mind." Luke 10:27
Number two "Love your neighbor as you love yourself.
That is the will of God for you today, my friend, and when you complete that, everything else falls into place. When he told us to go into all the world and preach the gospel, it's only accomplished because we love people, not because we have power or gifts.
We can love because it's God's love in us that we give out.

THERE IS SAFETY IN THE NAME OF JESUS
The story is told about a missionary woman who was asked a question by a group of American Christians. The subject was divine healing versus the world of medical advancements. They ask her, " what is the difference between the faith of the African versus the faith of Americans when it comes to believing in God for your healing?
Her answer was quite shocking for the modern American Christian who has the supply of medical help right at hand. She said, "the difference is in America, you trust in the medical supply, so why should you have to trust in the Lord for healing? However, in Africa, you either trust God or die."
That story has always grabbed me right in my spirit when I hear it because it's so true. We in the western world have drifted away from trusting in the name of the Lord for our safety and provision. I don't need to exercise my trust in the name of Jesus if I have a good job and a good insurance program for my doctor.
I tell you that story for obvious reasons that we might be reminded that the Scriptures still tell us, even in this modern age, that the name of the Lord is a strong tower and when the righteous trust in that name, they are safe.
It's been my experience as I have developed my relationship with the father that he is not a spiritual buffet that I can drift by and pick my favorite treasures from his banquet table.
There's something in the scripture that we need to hear again when it tells us to "trust in the lord with all of our heart lean not to our understanding in all of our ways acknowledge him, and he will bring it to pass."
I challenge you to reevaluate your trust in the name of Jesus from the smallest part of your life to the greatest part.
"in all of your ways, acknowledge him."
This is an excellent day to refocus on the things that matter.

SORRY YOU HAVE NO CHOICE IN THIS
Among the things that I dislike in this world are drive-through fast food restaurants. They put me in line with the other cars and expected me to choose what I wanted in 30 seconds or less. First of all, I've never been to this one before, and I don't know the menu, and the guy behind me looks mad.
There are just too many choices and too little time.
But that seems to be the society we live in every day; many choices are thrown at us, and we're expected to make the right ones in a split second.
After a while, you begin to feel like you're in control of your own life because you can make the choices you want.
Burger King has made millions of the slogan "have it your way."
Frank Sinatra sold a million records singing, "I did it my way."
And Starbucks has so many ways to make coffee; you have to have a roadmap to navigate your way through.
Boil it all down; this generation believes they are in control of their lives and can do what they want.
If you're paying attention to what I'm driving for here, you've already figured out that I'm talking about people with no god base in their life.
People without a foundation of God in their thinking and reasoning come up with stupid and foolish ideas, such as the multiple genders they are trying to convince us are real.
Now because they have decided that they can make their own choice, they're having trouble figuring out what a woman is.
People without God feel they can do whatever they want anytime they want without any repercussions or penalty for their actions.
However, when the smoke clears, God is still in charge of this universe, and we don't have the choices we think we have.
The first and most crucial choice that unredeemed people have is to choose Christ in their life. The scriptures tell us, "choose you this day whom you will serve." Once we've made that choice, our spirit is evident, and wisdom is given, so the choices from that point on becoming God's purpose and will in our life.
"I'll take a hamburger and french fries, please."

WHEN THE WIND BLOWS, DEAD LEAVES FALL
I stepped outside yesterday to take a break and give my dogs a chance to run in the yard and realized autumn is finally here. While standing there, a gust of wind blew by my face, and I was showered with a burst of leaves that covered the yard. The "Spirit of God spoke to me and said, "when the wind blows, dead leaves will fall."
After you've lived through a few seasons, you become aware of the signals that tell you change is at hand. The temperature has changed; the leaves on the trees are turning colors, and the autumn winds are beginning to blow. In the Northwest, that's a good sign that the season has shifted, and we are now heading toward winter.
The leaves on the tree have served their purpose. They gave us shade all through the hot summer, and now their duty has ended. As far as they're concerned, they would like to stay on that tree forever; after all, it's home to them.
But GodGod has other ideas for those leaves; they need to move on so the tree can rest and come back more robust in the spring. So what does GodGod do? He sends the wind, and when the wind blows, the leaves fall.
Remember the old prophet that had free room and board beside the creek? The rest of the country was starving, but the birds brought him food daily, and the stream gave him water. What more could a prophet desire; it sounds like retirement had come.
But GodGod had other plans for the old boy; his job wasn't over yet.
Because the prophet was content where he was, GodGod dried up the creek and stopped the delivery system for food.
Why does trouble come along and the wind of adversity blow at times? It's to get us off the dime and allow us to exercise our faith again. Much of our decisions come out of a sense of urgency because the winds are blowing again.
I believe if you take notice, you'll find that those winds will blow your dead leaves off so that your new season can come forth with strength.
Folks, pay attention; you can know when the seasons change. Jesus told us that we could look to the sky and tell when it was going to rain. How much more can we do that in the spirit?

EVERYTHING GOD GIVES US IS IN SEED FORM
I live in a valley dominated by farmers and the agricultural industry. 95% of the business produced in this area comes from the ground. We are one of the world's largest producers of tulip and daffodil bulbs. We feed untold thousands with the potatoes produced and shipped from the small valley.
What a miracle increase in production that God has given to us so that we might live and prosper.
It would shock the uninformed that all of this great product and increase comes out of a small container of seeds.
Everything God gives to us is in seed form.
We have successful exporters that do nothing but send seeds around the world that have been produced in our small valley.
Seeds have power and can manipulate the financial position of a nation. Some years ago, in Holland, they had what they called a "tulip bubble," where Tulip bulbs became so valuable that one bulb was worth the price of a house.
In the book of Mark, in the fourth chapter, Jesus says the farmer went out to sow the seed. He continued by saying that the seed fell in different places. And according to the place that it landed determines the outcome of the seed.
Everything God gives to us is in seed form.
Paul has a prayer in Galatians four, praying there and asking that Christ be formed in them. That statement indicates that when we receive Christ, it is a seed planted in the womb of our spirit that must come to maturity before birth.
This is not a heaven and hell issue; this is a grow up and be a son of God issue.
Just like the seed planted in a woman's womb has to come through the stages of development, so you and I, as Christians, do the same.
Unfortunately, many of our churches are nurseries instead of the headquarters of spiritual warriors.
It's time that we allow the seeds of the gospel that have been planted in the womb of our spirit to mature and come to full bloom so that we can do the will of God in our time.

THE MONSTER WITHIN THE MONSTER WITHOUT
There is a classical caricature that Hollywood portrays as the struggle between good and evil. You see the picture of a man who looks frustrated, if not worn down. On one shoulder, speaking into his ear, it is the devil. Standing on the other shoulder is an angel speaking in that ear.
The Hollywood understanding of the struggle that men and women go through in this world expresses the frustration and the depression that people without Christ live in all their life. The psychiatrist and counselors are busy day and night keeping those types of people out of the dark places the enemy's spirit can put them. The question is asked over and over how can I get rid of the monster that is driving me insane?
Paul describes his frustrating journey in the seventh chapter of Romans. Here he makes the statement, "oh wretched man that I am who shall deliver me from this body of death." We are listening here to one of the New Testament heroes describing his life and the monster that dominated him before he was converted.
Then in the following verse of Romans 7:25, Paul changes the room's atmosphere and declares the monster is dead because of the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Listen to his declaration again.
"Oh, thank God he will through Jesus Christ the anointed one."
Now that glorious verse in chapter 8 of Romans echoes through our souls and spirit like the sweet winds of summer.
"Therefore now no condemnation no judging guilty of wrong for those who are in Christ Jesus for the law of the spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus has freed me from the law of sin and death."
The monster is dead, my friends; rejoice, you are no longer under condemnation.

RECEIVING AND GIVING THE BREATH OF GOD
The Bible is full of images and pictures in our minds that we can see the workings of God throughout the history of man. One of the very first pictures we carry in our minds is the creation of Adam. We are told that God formed him from the dust of the earth; as we read that, we can visualize the action that took place; God forming man in his image.
It's where the dynamics change as God releases his spirit by breathing into Adam the breath of life. We can visualize gods release of his spirit into the spirit of Adam, and he became a living soul.
Among the wonderful images I see in the New Testament is the book of acts where Pentecost happened. In the upper room where the faithful gathered, waiting for the promised gift from heaven, the Holy Spirit. Suddenly a mighty wind blew through the room; God again exhaled into the spirits of men, and they became new creatures in Christ.
Now take a picture of the modern carrier of that same breath, the preacher, the witness, the housewife, the next-door neighbor, anyone who declares Christ to the world around them. As they breathe out the gospel's message, the same breath released into Adam, and those in the upper room, comes forth from the mouth of those who proclaim his name.
You and I carry the same breath that God has within himself because he lives in us and speaks as we speak. Did not Jesus tell us that we could do greater works because we now could go to the father in Jesus's name?
Didn't the scriptures tell us, "as Jesus is, so are we in this world?"
Of course, it does.
So when someone tells you to take a deep breath, you're not just breathing in oxygen. You're breathing in the presence of the Lord. How can I say that?
Because you and I live in his presence continually.
And when you speak, remember, the breath that you used to speak his name and his word is the breath of God going into those that stand around and listen.
Exhale, my friends, and watch the world around you change.
