COME HELL OR HIGHWATER
When the spirit of God dropped that on my heart today, all I could say was, father, you have a sense of humor. What in the world am I going to do with that?
As usual, the Holy Spirit always has a plan that takes a little time to reveal itself.
So it was long before it came tumbling into my mind, and we did a great program around perseverance, determination, never giving up, and a dozen other things that would have God's fingerprints all over it.
When someone would say, "come to hell or Highwater," we would immediately know that they intend not to let anything stop them from reaching their intended goal.
That sounds like what Jesus meant when he said, 'love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and all I saw all that I might and I neighbor as thy self.'
So our confession today is this, no matter what comes our way, despite all the opposition, the shortcomings, and the lack of funds or strengths, we will serve the lord, come hell or Highwater.

YOU ARE THE GLOVE ON GOD'S HAND
Our spirit of generosity is among the many differences between us as a nation and the other nations of the world. We have long been known as the most generous givers to needy causes at home and abroad, and we have fed countries and defended nations.
Even in the time when war swept around the world and destroyed so many nations. When it was over, we were the ones that restored those nations.
Many inquiries have been made, and so many in-depth studies have been recorded trying to find the key or secret behind the American people being so generous. The secret is straightforward, and to those who understand spiritual principles, it is easy to find. We are generous and love to give because our heavenly father is generous, and we are made in his image.
Like father like son and daughter.
The spirit of generosity for those who understand the heart of God that is in them is released in more than just money and things. When the Red Cross calls for volunteers after a disaster or hurricane, thousands of American citizens travel far and wide from their homes to give their time to someone in need.
The spirit of Christ is the spirit of giving. He gave himself as a sacrifice for us, and we are like him. In all reality, we are the glove on the hand of God that reaches out to those in need.
When we shake someone's hand and greet or lay that same hand on someone's head and heal them, it is God's hand in our gloves doing the work.
When Jesus prayed in John 17, we would be one with him in the same way that he and God the father are one. The results are a Christian people and a Christian nation with the same loving generosity God the father had when he gave Jesus to us as a savior.
John 3:16 rings out loud and clear in this holiday season that we are entering into; for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believe it's on him should not perish but have everlasting life,
For God's sake, not his son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved.
Be that glove to someone today.

LIMITLESS GRACE
THERE ARE NO LIMITS TO THE POWER OF GOD THAT ENABLES US TO BE LOVED.
When I think of the Grace of God, I instantly hear the old church song: "Grace, Grace, gods grace, grace that is greater than all my sins."
Within the last 30 years, controversy has been brewing in the body of Christ concerning what they call the Grace message. Several voices have been raised worldwide that teach us about Grace beyond the limits of our traditional theology. Or at least the denominational world that we were raised in.
In the season of my life, I am in, I have come to the conclusion that many of my teachers didn't have the whole story when it comes to some of the doctrines they were teaching.
However, to be fair to them and us, we can only walk in the light we have and be judged by that same light. But if that's where we stay, we will miss what God is revealing today to the body of Christ. And one of the subjects he is unfolding is the understanding of limitless Grace.
The apostle Paul seemed to have a pretty good grasp of Grace when he told us that all things were lawful, but not all things were expedient. Unfortunately, that revelation is somewhat cloudy to us in this generation.
The little bit that I understand about that verse is that God does not judge us on the same scale; we judge ourselves, especially in the religious setting. As a young boy in the Pentecostal movement, I could've gone to hell for going to the movies or the Pool hall. To say that now seems laughable, but it was serious business in the small theological world that we lived in.
So today, I embrace the Grace of God that gives me the power from heaven to understand and accept his love. And when I know his love, I will never be involved in the things that displease him. To me, that's the only safety barrier that I need to walk out his will in this life. The only law that you cannot break is the law of love.
God loved us first, and he will love us always.

STEADY EDDIE- FAITH FOR ALL SEASONS
Among my favorite stories of fables and myths from our childhood is the one about the tortoise and the hare. As the story goes, the hare, or as you may say, the rabbit, was speedy and always witty. The second character in this fable is a turtle, slow and boring. One day they decided to have a race to see who was the fastest one in town.
Everybody laughed at the turtle even entering the race, let alone thinking that he could win this one. On the other hand, the rabbit was bragging about his incredible speed and taking congratulations even before the race began.
On the day of the race, when the gun went off, the rabbit zipped off over the horizon before the turtle could even get out of his shell. Well, if you remember the story, you already know the outcome. The turtle won the rabbit lost. How in the world could that happen?
I'll tell you exactly how it happened because I see it daily in the Christian world. In all reality, the rabbit in this fable goofed off and took time off play the fool. Meanwhile, the turtle kept plotting one step at a time; he never slowed down and never quit.
He's what we call "Steady Eddie."
I have watched it for years in the church and throughout the body of Christ, where those that should have won the race have lost it because they were wasting time. They didn't achieve their goal and won the race because they were slow or without scale and talent. The plain fact is they didn't get there because they took too many detours along the way.
It seems they have the attitude that God will take care of it no matter what they do.
Well, here's a news flash for you. God already took care of it on the cross and resurrection, handed the keys to you, and said go to work.
If there ever was a day that we needed steady Eddies in the church and our national leadership teams, we need them today. Those that keep plotting one step at a time until the race is won and the battle is over.
I believe we will win in our spiritual conquest and national domination if we are the "Steady Eddies of our day."

IS SALVATION ENOUGH? OR IS THERE MORE?
I can still hear my mother hollering at me as I reached for the cookie jar just before dinner. "George, stay out of the cookies; it will ruin your dinner."
To be honest with you, that really didn't make any sense to me, and I figured I was getting a head start on dinner with this wonderful cookie in my hand. Of course, I was too young to understand the chemistry of the body and the makeup of the system that keeps us alive. All I knew was that I saw that cookie and wanted it.
Strange as it may seem, just the other night, while I was heading for the crackers, I heard my wife say, George, dinner is just about ready; don't be nibbling. So there's something within us that desires to be satisfied with small things or the emergency application of something to satisfy a pain or hunger.
By now, I understand the need for nutrition and a well-balanced meal, and if I satisfy myself with a cookie, I won't have the desire to sit down at a full dinner.
Over the last 65 years of active ministry, I have prayed with multiple thousands of people that have come to the altar or raised their hands, indicating they wanted to receive Jesus as their savior. We rejoice in the number of conversions, yet we wonder where many disappeared after they accepted Jesus.
I will not second-guess the Holy Spirit on these occasions or judge those who have received Jesus by their outward actions. However, I am suspicious that many have taken Jesus as a cookie instead of a full meal. The experience of being saved has satisfied them enough to where they find no need to go any further into the kingdom of God.
This breaks my heart because I know the potential in each person who comes to Christ.
I am convinced that salvation is essential for everything we do, but if that's where you stop, you will miss the purpose of salvation, and that is that we might become in the fall likeness of Jesus Christ.
If you may be at that point of discovery, ask the Holy Spirit to take you into the mysteries that lay ahead. The mysteries of Christ. The mysteries of godliness. If you follow the Holy Spirit into this wonderful journey, you will be fulfilled in the purpose God has planned for you.

DON'T WORRY - BE HAPPY
Today I would like to interest you in some health tips. Most of our time together has to do with our spiritual walk. However, today I want to talk about your health and well-being, something that will give you long life. And while I'm at it, I will undoubtedly throw in a few spiritual principles along the way.
There's a catchy phrase IN a famous movie when the hero of the movie says," don't worry about it." Our Australian friends down under have a catchy phrase that says, "no worries." Hidden beneath these simple statements is a profound principle of life and health that God has woven within the fabric of our human DNA.
Worry, anxiety, frustration, and fear belong to the same family. In reality, these are commands from the Lord. Why would he command us not to have any anxieties about anything? Well, let me ask you a question. Why would your doctor tell you to go home and not worry anymore about your situation? Take two aspirins and a nap, and you'll feel better.
Ok, you get the point.
Our heavenly father is our divine doctor telling us this is how your body operates; if you worry, you will be in trouble physically.
Why is that?
Well, honestly, it's just the way he made us. It makes just as much sense to leave the oil out of our engine when we go for a ride in our automobile. Then we asked what had happened, and I didn't think that oil was necessary.
However, the maker of that automobile and the engine said it was necessary and gave instructions to keep it full and fresh every time you went for a drive.
And so is when our heavenly father says to have no anxieties or worries about anything. This command is not a heaven or hell issue, but if you break it, you may get there sooner than you think or even would like to.
So today I will give you a tip. DON'T WORRY - BE HAPPY

GOD DRAWS STRAIGHT LINES WITH CROOKED STICKS
There is a very curious statement about David in acts 13:22 that declares he was a man after gods own heart and would fulfill all of the will of God. At first blush you scratch your head and wonder about a statement like that when you consider the history of David's life. Yes he had some mighty victories from time to time but he also had some major losses and failures. That is if you include murder and adultery.
Yet we have the Scriptures plainly stated that he would fulfill all of the will of God. How could that be since the majority of people believe that God only uses perfect people?
Perfect people? Are there really any of those around that you know?
It's like the old joke that says, when you found the perfect church it wasn't perfect anymore because you showed up.
Take a quick survey if you would in the Testaments to see if we can find those perfect people that God used to change history.
Abraham tried to pawn his wife off on the king as his sister.
Moses ended up murdering an Egyptian hoping that he could deliver the children of Israel with that method.
Gideon was hiding in a cave trembling in fear until the angel found him.
Even the great apostle Peter denied Christ as he was led away to the Cross.
The man who formed the foundation for the New Testament doctrines apostle Paul was a killer and a marauder of the Church.
All of these were crooked sticks that somehow God drew a straight line with and shaped the history of the world and gave us our foundation of Christianity.
Now with that in mind get up get dressed put your best face forward stop listening to the lies of the devil and your own self doubt and do the job God has called you to do on this earth.
You may be one of those crooked sticks but if you'll turn your self over to the Holy Ghost God will know how to draw a straight line with you in the sands of time.

STAY IN YOUR LANE AND DO WELL
I am sure you have heard this statement before, "a jack of all trades and an expert at none." That's the world's view of people who fly from job to job like a butterfly in the springtime, somewhat like the five-year-old that wants to be a fireman, policeman, and astronaut all in one week. Only now, that five-year-old is 40 years old and still trying to find himself.
I was coming home with Arlis last night from the store, and while navigating a turn with cars on each side of me, the spirit dropped this thought in my heart.
Stay in your lane George, and you will do well.
I closely watched the white lane on each side of me and trusted it to keep me safe from the moving metal on each side of the car. I had confidence as long as I stayed in my lane, I would be fine.
Of course, the spirit of God had more to say about it than just getting home safely. He was talking to me about the path of life we take and the gifts he has given us to fulfill. Some of us want to do so many things at once in the kingdom of God that we don't get much done.
Why would that be?
Most often, the gift that God gave us that we should be exercising in so that it would grow is not as glamorous as somebody else's gift next to us. So we say to our self I'm going to do that for a while, but it never seems to come to a good conclusion.
The apostle Paul said that when we come together, one has a tongue, another has a prayer, and then someone else has a teaching. And when it's all mixed together, it brings the glory of God and the revelation of Jesus Christ to the people around us.
Every one of us has been challenged to stay in our lane until we are strengthened and developed. I wanted to be like Oral Roberts, but God had other ideas. Just like you, it took time for me to find myself and be happy, as they say, in my skin.
I encourage you today to stay in the lane God has put you in, and you watch, prosperity will come, and you will excel in it.

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GOD
Did you know that wisdom and knowledge are a spirit, not just an idea or a perception of things? When we understand that wisdom and knowledge are spirits and that our father has created them to work with us and bring us to our maturity. We then realize that our father planned for our success through the spirits he has provided for us to bring us to our happy conclusion.
When God said, "let us make man in our image," he also described their purpose and abilities to fulfill his purposes on earth. However, God did not put his children on the planet as orphans to struggle alone without divine assistance.
We are not alone. The multiple layers of spiritual beings that God created to help us hit the target and fulfill our purpose are beyond our imagination.
These are among the things we need to know about God.
He is the master architect and understands perfect planning for the future.
When he created you, he said, "it was good."
I am convinced that our biggest enemy is not the devil but our religious preconceived ideas of who God is and what he has in mind for us.
If you don't believe that God is on your side, as the Psalmist tells us, then you will live your Christian life with a dark cloud over your spirit, wondering if God is going to fulfill his promises or if he is going to fail you.
The scripture refers to a double-minded man that will not receive anything from the Lord. The person with a double-minded attitude toward God is suspicious of the very one who has given him life, freedom, and peace.
Today I want to talk about five things you need to know about God.
- God's not mad at you.
- God's not in a hurry.
- God a happy God.
- God will bring you to your maturity.
- God loves you unconditionally.
If we can capture these simple truths and carry them in our spirit, it will revolutionize our journey in the Holy Ghost and the spiritual world God has given us.

WE ARE THE MOP-UP CREW GATHERING THE SPOILS
When you consider your Christian walk and your daily encounters with oppositions that come your way, have you also considered Christ's total victory over the enemy?
Much of our modern theology has a mixture of victory and defeat woven through it. Yes, we speak of Paul's revelation of "Christ in you the hope of glory." And we remember, "greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world." And we hear echoing through our soul, "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me."
Yet somehow, the theology of God and the devil duking it out is still being heard in some of our congregations. We conjure up the picture of the struggling Saint stumbling through life, hoping they don't get taken out by the enemies' attacks.
This would be a good time for us to refocus and see the clear picture of what Christ actually did for us at the cross, resurrection, and ascension to the father. It seems that I remember somewhere in Paul's teaching that Christ actually won the victory over the enemy and sealed the new covenant in his blood. Then he went as far as giving us authority over all the things the enemy would try through his name.
Then for the final witness of total victory, he sent us the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost as a witness that the father had accepted him as the perfect sacrifice.
With these thoughts in mind knowing that Jesus had perfect victory, should not we, as the army of Christ on earth, have a different tactic? For instance, if the enemy is defeated, our job would be to bring the spoils and bring them home.
That's precisely the position we have in the kingdom we are in today.
We are the mop-up crew going into all the world and declaring the total victory of Jesus Christ over the enemy and bringing the good news that everyone has been freed from death and hell.
Come home; the father's waiting for you.
