THE POWER AND PURPOSE OF DOING THIS FIRST
I had a glorious yet short-lived baseball career in my youth. Mr. Dunn from Dunn's grocery sponsored our little league hardball team. It was a summer in the middle of the 1950s when summer seemed to last forever. So I joined the team and began to learn all about baseball.
The first thing I learned is that a whole bunch of rules go along with playing the game. And if you don't keep the rules, everything falls apart. After a while, I finally found my sweet spot in baseball. Seeing that I was small in stature, the coach discovered I was really good at bunting the ball. That's when you barely hit the ball far enough so that Fred can run in from the third base and score a run while you try to make it to first base.
I can't tell you how many times I got creamed out on first base. And of all the things I learned about baseball, they first taught me that if you don't touch first base, nothing else counts. You can run all the way around and come into Homeplate, then hear the umpire shout you're out because you didn't touch first base.
Spiritually speaking, that's the same principle that works in the kingdom of God.
The father has given us so many marvelous and unbelievable things that we can enjoy and live in the midst of. Peace of mind, prosperity of soul and finances, and a happy home. Yeah, none of those things will come to their fullest development unless we touch first base first.
No wonder the scriptures tell us to seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all of these things shall be added to you. (Matthew 6:33) It's the same principle as the farmer and the seed, and the farmer must first put the seed in the ground before he can expect to harvest.
Today is examination day. Are we putting first things first in our life? Ask the Holy Spirit that question; he's faithful to give you the correct answer.

AWAKEN YOUR DESTINY
Here are some questions that you may ponder as you watch the video today.
Why did god send you to this earth?
Why did he send you at this time in history?
Most people that interact with you will never ask themselves these questions. The current worldview that our society has is very self-centered and focused on the moment. We definitely are in a "me generation" mentality.
According to the popular rhetoric that seems to be the loudest is there are only two types of people.
Number one there is the oppressor.
And of course the second one is the victim.
What you are can change with the social current, somedays it's the rich CEO that runs the corporation. The next day it's becomes the color of your skin or the nation that you're from.
Victims have a wide array of opportunity that they can pick and choose from.
Personally I grew up as a victim.
I was forced to wear jeans with holes in them before it became a fashion item.
I had to wear glasses when people would call you four eyes and laugh at you because of it.
I was also height impaired so I never could pursue my basketball career.
Then to top it off I was a Pentecostal and looked down on by other more refined religious organizations.
So what did I do with my victimhood. I met Jesus Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit and he awakened in me my destiny and purpose for being on this earth.
I discovered that he had laid out a course for me to travel on and complete. And he gave me a ministry of reconciliation that I was to be faithful to.
Now I am no longer a victim. Because of Jesus Christ. I am now more than a conqueror because of his love.

JESUS IS NOT AN EXAMPLE FOR US, BUT OF US
The book of Romans is an amazing revelation that God gave to Paul of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Not everyone in the early church accepted Paul as an apostle or his gospel as trustworthy, and the church in Rome was among that group.
So we have the book of Romans that Paul laid out before them, detailing the revelation of the gospel the Spirit gave him. Interestingly enough, he gave this to my woman by the name of Phoebe. She became a spokesperson for Paul as she went through the churches in Rome. As a side note, she was also a lawyer and a woman of renown.
Because of this remarkable book, we have a clear, detailed, yet simple pattern of the purpose, procedure, and fulfillment of why Christ came; and the Family of saints that he birthed.
Romans 8:1-2 has been a linchpin scripture for me since I was a teenager. The revelation of this beautiful passage of scripture has been the foundation I have stood upon my entire journey as a believer in Jesus Christ. Without understanding this vital revelation, my path would've been much different.
I believe Romans 8 is one of the big guns that will knock out the Spirit of religion in a person's life; if you have to build your relationship with God upon works and the things you do to please him, you are doomed to fail.
Thank God we have the revelation in this great verse( Rom 8:1-2) that everything that could be used against us for condemnation has been removed from our history because of Jesus.
So rejoice with me today as we spend some time listening to this revelation God gave Paul out of the book of Romans.

WE HOLD THESE TRUTHS TO BE SELF EVIDENT
We call it natural law; some would say the law of nature or common sense. It's just the way life works. For instance, take the law of gravity. Let's try running that through the Supreme Court to see if we can change it. How about the law of seed time and harvest? Let's find some federal judge to change that one.
Try this Jesus parable on for size.
And the farmer went out and decided not to cast his seed on the ground, and when he had no harvest, he sued the city for lack of funding.
Does that sound familiar with the current society were moving through? They have one thing in mind; doing away with God and his natural law.
Our founding fathers said that we were endowed with these natural rights from our Creator. The mind of man thinks they can take their Creator to court and change his laws.
That just doesn't happen, folks.
So let's hold on for a bumpy ride while God our Creator readjusts the focus that this world has back to embracing God's laws already established on earth.
The scriptures tell us that the nations will rage and imagine a vain thing. How about that for a prophetic snapshot of what we're experiencing today? What could describe a generation of arrogant people who think they can change human genetics through willpower?
That just doesn't happen, folks.
Therefore we hold steady, focused on the Lord and not the storms. If you keep your eyes on Jesus, you're guaranteed not to sink beneath the waves.
If you feel yourself sinking, re-focus on Jesus; he'll get you back to the boat.

ALL OF CREATION CHEERS OUR SONSHIP
The subject of the garden of Eden is always an intriguing experience when you begin to see into the revelation of God's purposes. The garden of Eden seemed to be the connection point between heavenly places and earthly places.
Adam and Eve had a direct command from the father to reproduce on the Earth what was in the garden of Eden.
Their command was to bring order back to the Earth, repopulate, and shape its future. In cooperation with their work was all the creation that God had made. It's evident by what Paul says in the eighth chapter of Romans that the creation also suffered demotion when Adam and Eve fell.
Romans 8:21 in the mirror Bible tells us that creation knows they will be released when the sons of God take their place on the Earth. Just think about our effect on creation when you consider that God has restored us to the original call and commission.
In the book of mark 16:15, Christ gives us the same commission that our father gave to Adam and Eve. God commissions this generation of sons and daughters to bring order to this world once again. We are to heal the sick, raise the dead, and have no fear of poison and dangerous animals. We are in control because of God's commission to us.
Sound far-fetched?
Now you're getting the point. We are beyond human; we are sons and daughters of the living God.

THE PURPOSE OF A POWER NAP
I hated naptime as a kid. If you have children, you probably know that's not very unusual. Who wants to lie down in the middle of the day when there's so much to do outside?
My mother was much smarter than me, and I didn't realize how much when I was five. She made a deal with me that she would lie down next to me at nap time, and if she went to sleep first, I could get up and play. I don't ever remember winning that competition.
For some reason, my dad would nap on the living room couch. We always had a hand-crocheted afghan over the back of the couch, and he would pull it over him and take a snooze.
And, of course, everyone took a nap Sunday afternoon because we had to be fresh and bright for Sunday night service.
Our friends South of the border have what they call a siesta. In the more traditional nations, everything shuts down at noon, and the workers go home, have lunch and take a nap before returning to work.
It seems that God was the one who created the first naps. For instance, Adam took a nap, and when he woke, he had a wife named Eve.
Abraham took a nap and had an encounter with God concerning a covenant.
Jacob took a nap and was introduced to the angels ascending and descending from heaven to earth.
Jesus took a nap, and it gave the disciples their first lesson on how to quiet the storm.
Peter also took a nap and was taught of the Lord concerning the gospel going to the Gentiles.
To sum this up, dreams have shaped human history like nothing else. Much of the direction given to our old testament saints came out of naptime.
If I had to guess God's logic in this procedure, I would say it's an excellent way to get us out of the way, so we don't interfere with the directions he's giving us for our journey.

PLANNING AHEAD-DOES GOD KNOW YOUR TOMORROWS?
Does God really know the future and what will happen to us in our life?
That sounds like such a silly question to ask on a Christian broadcast. Doesn't everybody believe that God knows every detail about the future because he has set it in motion and predetermined its outcome?
Now hold on a minute; that sounds like a dedicated Calvinist believing that the sovereign God controls us like a puppet.
Or we could be an extremist on the other side of that subject that believes that man is totally in control of his destiny by his faith or actions.
But back to the question, does God know the future?
Yes, I believe he does, but here's another question: Does God control the future?
The answer to that one is, no, he doesn't; you do.
To expand on that statement, let me tell you the difference between foreknowledge and predestination.
God certainly has foreknowledge, but he does not predestinate or set the outcome of your life in place. The actions you take in life determine the outcome of your life.
Foreknowledge is God's desire for you, and that's where the basis of personal prophecy comes from. Hearing that prophecy only becomes fulfilled when you act upon the directions you were given or the knowledge you have to obey.
My understanding of how heaven operates is that when someone prophesies or predicts disaster and dark events, it is not set in stone; it is for our alert that we may change the outcome through the authority he has given us.
If you have dark dreams and see disaster, don't take that as predestination; take it as a warning so you can do your part through prayer to change it.
As gods' human sons and daughters on earth, we have been placed here with the direct command to shape the destiny of this planet that we live PLANNING AHEAD-WHAT'S HAPPENING ON MONDAY?

YOU CAN'T HIDE MATURITY
Desire and maturity are not the same; however, they go together. The desire to be a great baseball player gives energy that causes training and practice. At some point, a dose of talent and practice pays off, and the baseball scout suddenly discovers them.
That rule guides most of what we do in our natural life. The miracle ingredient in our American dream is that you can be anything you want to be if you apply yourself toward that goal. Some of the largest corporations and companies in our nation are being led by CEOs that started in the Mailroom.
They all had one thing in common. They had a combination of desire, ambition, tenacity, and faithfulness. Then add the ingredient of time, and you will have success.
It's not unusual for a new convert to the Christian life to expect everything to happen in one prayer meeting. An untold number of people became discouraged after the prophecy conference because their prophecy did not come to pass by the end of the month.
A prophecy given to you is in the same family as desire; both demand a dedicated Vision, never taking your eyes off the desire you have to accomplish.
Maturity of spirit and character is the same as putting a seed in the ground; give it the proper water and sunshine it will produce what you plant. If you plant the desires of your heart and stay faithful to the task with an ongoing relationship with the father, your seed will come up bountiful.
You can't hide maturity everybody around you will notice it when you enter the room.

FREE FROM SIN AND ITS MEMORY
When the scriptures tell us to have a renewed mind, it refers to the mind of Christ. Part of the conversion process is a change of thinking. Because of that, the greatest battle you may have is not outside of you, such as temporal temptations but inside, concerning your thought life.
If the enemy of your soul can keep you trapped in the memory of your failures, then for all practical purposes, you are stuck in your development as a Christian. This isn't something that hinders your eternal dwelling place in heaven, but it does cripple you for your purpose on earth.
Much of our church background has made us very conscience of sin. We are reminded in the sermons we hear and in our conversations about the things we should not and must not get involved in because it is a sin.
If you live with a sin consciousness, you will continually find fault with yourself.
And the guilt that will produce will drive you away from God.
Hebrews 10 tells us that God has forgotten our sins and failures.
Because we have the same abilities God has, we can also have our memory of those failures washed away and gone.
This is why Romans 8:1 declares to us there is, therefore now, no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus.
Today we declare that we are sin-free, and because of that, the memory of it has been taken away, and we are no longer guilty. We do not have a guilty conscious we have a sin-free conscious.
The scriptures tell us, "he who the son sets free is free indeed."

THE IN-BETWEEN TIMES
For those who have lived for a while, we quickly discovered that life is not one long party or vacation time. Somewhere in our youth, our good parents forced us against our will to clean our rooms and brush our teeth, which may be the first indication that life is not one long playground experience.
When we saw dad leave early in the morning and come home dirty and tired, we had no clue what he was doing all day. All we knew in those days was there was always food on the table, and the house was warm at night.
Then shock of shock, dad tells us that if we're going to have our car, we have to get a job and pay for it and also pay for our insurance.
Now life is getting scary. Do you mean I have to support myself now? What's this thing coming to?
By now, you're also catching the point that I'm talking about our spiritual journey. Our spiritual journey becomes one long party time when we discover that Jesus loves us and abides in us of a truth. It's revival time every day. Oh, how I love those sweet memories.
However, just as it is in our natural life, so is it in our spiritual life.
What we discover about the spiritual walk we're on is that the greatest maturity happens to our character in the in-between times.
Ephesians six and 14 tell us that after we have done all of these things, were to stand and be firm. That's where spiritual maturity begins to shine when no one is looking, and we still maintain the strength of character and focus on the vision before us.
The in-between times are given to us by our heavenly father, so we may have time to recoup, regroup, and be strengthened in the Holy Spirit for the journey ahead.
Only God knows the challenges, and it allows us to prepare for them in the quiet times of our life.
WHEN THERE ARE NO PROPHECIES OR VISIONS, DREAMS, OR ANGEL VISITATIONS, IT'S THE BEST OPPORTUNITY EVER TO LAY YOUR HEAD ON THE CHEST OF CHRIST, JUST LIKE THE APOSTLE JOHN, AND ENJOY THE JOURNEY.
